A Note from the Leadership Forum Co-Chairs

We are delighted to welcome all of you to the Philadelphia Society of People & Strategy (PSPS) 18th annual Leadership Forum. Each year, PSPS brings together strategic business leaders to engage with nationally recognized thought leaders for this premier event. The Leadership Forum gives us an opportunity to explore issues relevant to our work and the current business landscape, and to collaborate with our colleagues.

We thought very intentionally about the kind of programming that would provide the most value as you navigate an ever-changing workplace. Against the backdrop of a highly polarized and political time in our country’s history, we came to understand the critical importance of leading our organizations and our people with bravery. Leading with bravery and demonstrating courage in challenging times requires a distinct skillset. It requires strategic leaders to be beacons in the darkness.

There is no one better to help us navigate through these unprecedented times than our amazing keynote speaker and think-tank facilitator, Steve Pemberton. Steve is a visionary senior Human Resources executive, human capital strategist, bestselling author, ardent human rights champion, youth advocate and one of the most inspiring leaders of our time. Having served as a Human Resources senior executive at Monster.com, Walgreens, and WorkHuman, he has built positive cultures and created environments where teams can deliver their best work. Author of two critically acclaimed, bestselling books, A Chance in the World, and The Lighthouse Effect: How Ordinary People Can Have an Extraordinary Impact in the World, and creator of The Lighthouse Academy, an inspiring life-coaching platform that is transforming lives every day, Steve is keenly aware of the tumultuous times we are living in and the vital role leaders play during these times.

Through the attributes of Lighthouse Leadership, Steve will teach us about the ten ways we can all lead with bravery and the behaviors we need to exemplify. He will then model a framework for us to apply to the most pressing issues facing leaders today. In the think-tank portion of the program, we will work together in small groups to develop practical and applicable ideas, strategies, and solutions to take back to our respective organizations and immediately put into practice.

It is more important than ever that senior business leaders and innovators continue to learn, collaborate, and build relationships so we are best positioned to address the evolving business needs of our organizations and the people we lead. To do that, we need vision, agility, and accountability. And most of all, we need to lead with bravery.

We hope you find this afternoon’s program an engaging and worthwhile experience.
